Nexent Bank (formerly Credit Europe Bank): deposits, cards, loans
Nexent Bank is the name the former Credit Europe Bank now trades under. The group officially announced the change on 27 June 2025. In Romania the bank operates as a branch of its Dutch parent, Nexent Bank N.V. Amsterdam Sucursala București. For customers, the Avantaj cards and the accounts are the same products under the new brand.

How deposits are protected
As the branch of a Dutch bank, deposits are covered by the Netherlands scheme run by De Nederlandsche Bank, not by Romania's FGDB. The limit is the same, 100,000 euro per customer. If the bank failed, compensation would still be paid through the FGDB in Romania on the Dutch authorities' instructions, with no need to travel to the Netherlands.
What to compare first
For deposits, look at the net gain after Romania's 10% tax and at the early-withdrawal rule. With Card Avantaj, interest-free instalments apply at shops in the programme; cash withdrawals or late payments cost differently. Compare the offer with other banks before deciding.
